Is there an orientation?

Yes. Orientation is on July 22th 1:00-3:00 p.m. at The Mountaineers Kitsap Cabin/ Kitsap Forest Theater complex located at 3153 Seabeck Hwy, Bremerton. Please mark your calendar. The orientation will consist of a parent/camper tour of the grounds, participation in a sample class, and meeting some of the staff. This is also an opportunity for parents to connect for carpooling, and review any questions you may have in person.

What is the staff/student ratio?

We have approximately one staff for every three campers to ensure your child's safety and encourage your child's            learning experience. All staff members have undergone state background checks.

What to expect?

The camp day begins with an all group warm-up which starts at 9:00 and introduces a theme of the day. Warm ups will explore how to develop a character, movement, improv games, and team building. Then campers will be divided into smaller groups based primarily on age to attend classes in acting, singing & dancing, stage combat and physical humor. Campers will be hiking a 1/4 mile trail several times a day to attend classes in different locations.

Is there a performance?

There will be a final presentation for friends & family free of charge on Friday, August 10th and August 24th at 2:00 followed by a small celebration at the top of the trail. Families should arrive at 1:30 in order to park and walk down the trail to the theater.

What should my child bring:

  • Backpack
  • Refillable water bottle
  • Many layers of clothing. It is often cold in the morning and warm in the afternoon
  • Pencil and small notebook for taking notes, drawing, and keeping handouts
  • Lunch and snacks--it is important that you supply plenty of nutritious food for your child as children will use a lot of energy during the camp day.
  • Sun hat and sunscreen

Please be sure all items are labeled with your child’s name and remember that all items will be carried by your child up and down the trial so pack accordingly.

What should stay at home?

All electronics should remain at home this includes games, toys, iPods, cell phones, anything of value that you don’t want eaten by the woodland creatures. This is a chance to explore the out of doors and interact with people verses devices. Electronics that are seen by staff members will be confiscated and returned to parent/guardian at the end of the day.

What should my child wear?

  • Socks and closed toe shoes--the trail can get slippery and the stage is gravel
  • Sunscreen
  • Bug repellent
  • Long pants are recommended as they help avoid skinning knees
  • Layers of clothing
  • Costume items will be provided but occasional requests may be made for bright colored items

Will anyone be taking photos?

Yes, we will have several staff taking memorable and crazy photos of our fun. They will be posted on The           Mountaineers Kitsap Branch Flickr page for you to view and/or download.
