Look below on this page for the list of currently scheduled Kitsap Mountaineers trail runs. Guests may register to attend up to two Kitsap Mountaineers trail runs at no charge to introduce you to what we have to offer. Both guests and members may view the complete list of currently scheduled Kitsap Mountaineers activities by clicking on the following link. Those who have not completed Mountaineers scrambling, climbing, kayaking or snowshoe courses or equivalency may not register for those activities, for safety reasons. Nov. 20, Sun. North Kitsap Heritage Park Trail Run. (Moderate difficulty). (Moderate pace).  Port Gamble USGS, NKHP Trail Map - http://kingston98346.org/contents/index.php/25.html.  10 miles.  The distance will vary depending on the participants but the plan is to run 10 miles.  This 450 acre park is one of four Kitsap County "Heritage" parks and is a great place for hiking or running.  Please pack out your trash. Dec. 17, Sat. Green Mountain. (Moderate/Strenuous difficulty). (Moderate pace).Wildcat Lake USGS. About 9 miles with over 1000 ft elevation gain. Run up the second-highest peak on the Kitsap Peninsula for good views of Puget Sound, the Seattle skyline, the Olympics and Mount Rainier. Will run to the top via the Gold Creek and Vista trails and then back down by way of the Wildcat, Beaver Pond and Plummer trails. We will meet at the Gold Creek Trailhead at 9:00 am.  Make sure to bring the appropriate running gear, water and food. Mar. 3, Sat. Port Gamble Trail Run. (Moderate difficulty). (Moderate pace).  5 - 10 mile trail run. Port Gamble USGS, Port Gamble Trail Map (http://www.portgamble.com/pdf/trail_map_rules.pdf). Explore 4,000 acres with trails near Port Gamble. Discover the extensive network of logging roads or find your own trail. Keep an eye out for eagles, osprey and other regional wildlife. Kitsap is close to the Olympic Mountains where there are numerous trails.  A great book is Day Hiking Olympic Peninsula by Craig Romano.

Just east of Seattle are three peaks called Tiger Mountain, Cougar Mountain and Squak Mountain.

Carpooling, Cross Sound Transportation & The Meeting Places PDF Print E-mail

Northern Olympic Peninsula trail runs initially meet at the Park-n-Ride at the Poulsbo Church of the Nazarene, 22097 Viking Way NW, Poulsbo, WA. It is on Viking Way, north of Hwy 305, adjacent to the Washington State Patrol office (talk about secure parking!)
Southern Olympic Peninsula hikes meet at the Bremerton National Airport.
Port Townsend members anticipate meeting at Fat Smitty's in Discovery Bay.
Kitsap recommends taking the Kingston Ferry when coming from the mainland.

Mileage
For driver/passenger planning purposes, the one way distance from Poulsbo Church of the Nazarene to: Heart of the Hills Ranger Station, Heather Park, and Lake Angles trailheads is 63 miles. Hurricane Ridge Parking Lot is 75 miles. Camp Handy Trailhead is 59 miles. Tubal Cain Trailhead is 61 miles. Silver Lakes Trailhead is 62 miles.
