The Kitsap Mountaineers did a short notice hike to the summit of Mount Ellinor at the end of February, when the snow normally blocked the trail.

This is the famous snow chute leading down from Mount Ellinor. It is almost completely snow free in February.

Looking southeast from the summit of Mount Ellinor, you see Lake Crescent in the foreground, and then you see the Hood Canal elbow in the background. The two scenes make it all worth it.
